Sophisticated Identification System to Help Optimize Fleet Management and Reduce Losses

Louisville, KY – Mid-America Trucking Show- Booth #8754 – March 23, 2007 WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX-V:WEW), a provider of location-based and fleet Telematics services, is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of the WebTech Power Line Control (PLC) Identification System, the first industry solution for tracking both tractors and multiple trailers. Transportation customers will have the controls to optimize their fleets and reduce asset loss.

The PLC ID system uses Power Line Control to reliably communicate a unique ID between the tractor and trailer via the power line tether. This allows fleet managers to positively identify tractor and trailer pairing for effective fleet utilization and control. This new offering is unique in its ability to allow customers to monitor tractors and multiple trailers, even when tractors drop and pick up new trailers.

“This provides a tremendous management capability for fleet managers. There are thousands of trailers that are moved daily and it’s challenging for customers to keep track of them. Oftentimes, the trailers themselves are lost. With the PLC ID system, each trailer and tractor can be identified and customers will always know where these assets are at any point in time without missing a beat,” said Cameron Fraser, co-founder and chief technology officer, WebTech Wireless.

The PLC ID System consists of the PLC Identifier that is installed on a tractor or trailer and sends out a programmable unique ID at regular intervals onto the vehicle’s power line. The system also consists of the PLC Reader, which is installed with a WebTech Locator. Together, the PLC READER gathers information from the PLC IDENTIFIER and reports the hook and unhook times and locations to WebTech’s flagship Quadrant™ system. Fleet managers can then access the tracking and mapping reports from the web-based Quadrant system.
