Are You Stopped?

Arabic Stop Time

Did an Arabic stop sign get your attention? When working with clients to optimize their fleet efficiency, getting people to pay attention to their stop times can often feel like we are speaking Arabic in the Western world. No one seems to understand us.

Gaining insight into when and where your vehicles are stopped can be a boost to your fleet’s performance. You can either focus on reducing your stop times or in some cases generate revenue or lower your costs by charging the customer appropriately for the time you are stopped at their locations.

Two examples:

  • National Foods discovered that some of their stops were taking two and a half times as long as they had budgeted for. They have since worked with their customers to ensure that they can load and unload on schedule.
  • CP Rail has contractual agreements with customers on the maximum time that they will wait to unload at major customer distribution centers. Some of their customers get seriously backed up during the day, resulting in extraordinary long wait times. We have worked with CP Rail to geofence these major distribution centers. CP Rail contractors are tracked as they enter and leave the distribution centers. If the time on site is longer than what is in the contract, CP Rail automatically charges the customer for the additional time.

Tracking stop times can be a critical part of increasing business results by using telematics.
